After Care:

Use ice packs on any area that is tender, sore or inflamed, especially in the first 72 hours.

When using an ice pack, wrap it in a towel.  Do not place it directly on your skin.  Place the ice pack on the area that is sore for 20 minutes. Remove and repeat every 20 minutes for relief.

Leaving the ice pack on for a short time will stimulate circulation to the area and reduce inflammation.  To keep the ice pack on for longer can be harmful to tissue.

Do not do any strenuous exercise immediately after a massage. A sports massage is the exception, which will include light Swedish massage and stretching, allowing your body to warm up for an exercise event, i.e. running, tennis, football, etc.

Exercise the next day is encouraged.

Some people can experience headaches, nausea and soreness following a massage.  This is due to the increase in circulation and the release of toxins and cellular waste. Drinking water will alleviate this problem!

Water!

Unlike anything else we put into our bodies, water must be consumed in ample amounts on a daily basis. It is the ultimate essential nutrient. The body can sustain life without food for an extended period of time, but without water physiological processes are comprised and death occurs in a matter of days.

Water molecules are found in and between every cell of our body. More than half of our total body weight is water (approximately 60-75%), and serves as the main transport system of the body, moving nutrients, toxins and waste products to their respective destinations.

All of our bodies biochemical reactions occur in water, and water is an active participant in each of the reactions. It is safe to say that water is the most underrated, often overlooked, yet essential compound that every human being needs for survival.So...drink, drink, drink your water!
